I was watching an NBA preseason game and was interested at the diversity. The vast majority of players are black yet there never seems to be many black coaches. It's interesting to me because I came across this article when I started to look around and research this issue.

Maybe it's me but I just don't see the diversity in positions of power in the NBA. There are few black General Managers and there has been 1 black owner in the league's history- and he is trying to sell his share in the team.
I think there is still a lot of room for improvement in the NBA.

I'll admit that I never thought about it that way. You see the NBA and, like you said, a vast majority of the players are black. I never thought to look to the coaches. However, that's very interesting that the coaches seem to all be white.
ReplyDeleteI made a post about minority hiring in regard to the NFL on my blog. I'm wondering now why the NBA does not have a similar rule that requires its teams to interview African Americans for the head coaching positions.
Right. I agree it seems unusual that other leagues wouldn't look at the NFLs and adopt something similar. It clearly has worked.
